This Privacy Policy explains what information Weather Buddie may collect, receive, use, store, and share when you use the Weather Buddie Discord bot, website, dashboard, APIs, and related services. It is intended to describe current practices in plain language; it is not a promise that every feature stores the same information forever.

1. Information We Process

Depending on how you use the Service, we may process:

• Discord and account information: Discord user ID, username or display information, avatar information, authorized server information, and OAuth session details needed for sign-in;
• Server configuration: server ID, channel and role IDs, selected settings, alert preferences, welcome or ticket configuration, and dashboard changes;
• Bot activity: command usage, interaction information, moderation or audit actions, errors, timestamps, and operational logs;
• Service telemetry: server counts, user counts, shard and uptime information, memory and performance measurements, and health checks;
• Website and device information: IP address, browser or device details, request timestamps, referring page, and security or diagnostic logs when provided by hosting or infrastructure providers; and
• Information you submit: support requests, feedback, messages, and other information you choose to provide.

2. How We Use Information

We may use information to provide and personalize features, authenticate dashboard access, apply server settings, deliver alerts and bot responses, troubleshoot errors, monitor uptime and performance, prevent abuse, maintain security, respond to support requests, improve the Service, and comply with legal obligations.

3. Aggregated and De-identified Information

We may create aggregated or de-identified statistics, such as overall server counts, command totals, uptime, or performance trends. These statistics are used for operating and improving Weather Buddie and are not intended to identify individual users.

4. Browser Storage and Cookies

The website may use browser storage, including local storage, for preferences such as the animated weather background. The dashboard and authentication flow may use cookies or similar session mechanisms to keep you signed in and protect requests. You can clear browser storage or block cookies, but some features may stop working correctly.

5. Weather and Public Data Providers

The World Weather page may request weather and severe-event information from third-party providers such as Open-Meteo and NASA EONET. Requests may be routed through Weather Buddie’s server so the page can provide a consistent same-domain experience. Those providers may process technical request information under their own policies, and their data may be cached briefly by Weather Buddie.

6. Sharing and Service Providers

Weather Buddie does not sell personal information. Information may be shared with service providers that host, secure, authenticate, monitor, or operate the Service, and with Discord or other providers when required to deliver a requested feature. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce these Terms, investigate abuse, protect users, or protect the Service and its operators.

7. Retention

Retention depends on the type of information and why it is needed. Configuration and operational records may be retained while a server uses the Service. Logs, cached data, sessions, and telemetry may be kept for shorter periods appropriate for security, troubleshooting, and reliability. Information may be retained longer when necessary for legal, accounting, dispute-resolution, or security purposes, or when provided by Discord or another provider under its own policies.

8. Your Choices and Requests

You may stop using the Service, sign out, clear local browser storage, remove the bot from a server, or request deletion of information that Weather Buddie controls through the official support channels. We may need to verify a request and may retain limited information where required for security, legal obligations, fraud prevention, or recordkeeping. Information held by Discord or other providers must generally be requested from those providers directly.

9. Security

Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect information handled by Weather Buddie, including access controls and operational monitoring where appropriate. No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security. Please report suspected account, token, or security issues through private official support channels and never post credentials publicly.

10. Children

The Service is not directed to children who are not legally permitted to use Discord or agree to these Terms. We do not knowingly request personal information from children for unrelated purposes. If you believe a child has provided information improperly, contact the Weather Buddie team through the official support channels.

11. Third-Party Policies

Discord, hosting providers, authentication providers, weather providers, and other third parties may process information under their own privacy policies. Weather Buddie does not control third-party privacy practices, retention periods, or security.

12. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when the Service or its data practices change. The latest version and its effective date will be published on this page. Continued use of the Service after an update means you acknowledge the updated policy.
